Dominican Republic
Dominican activity grows 3.8% in August. Momentum differs across sectors.
The IMAE posts 4.5% average growth through August. Construction and financial services stand out, according to the central bank.

The fact
The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic reported on September 28 that its monthly economic activity indicator grew 3.8% year over year in August. Average growth for January–August was 4.5%. The figures are preliminary. Construction expanded 7.9% in August and financial services 9.4%.
The ALTA EDICIÓN view
Aggregate expansion is a starting point for company analysis, but cannot replace accounts. A builder can increase activity while needing more working capital; a bank can expand volume without an equivalent margin improvement. Investors should examine the distance between growth, cash collection and sustained profitability.
What to check
For companies exposed to the Dominican market, compare sales with receivables, inventories and investment spending. Rising billings with slower collections would weaken a favorable reading. In banking, separate lending growth, funding costs and loan quality.
The next signal
The next IMAE release and revisions will show whether momentum broadens. We will revisit sectors with each monthly release and cash conversion when companies report. The cumulative 4.5% figure should not be presented as a confirmed full-year result.
