ALTA EDICIÓN / ANALYSIS · ENGLISH BRIEF

Europe has oil supply. High fuel costs remain a problem.

Supply availability and the price paid by businesses are different risks.

The fact

On September 29, the EU Oil Coordination Group described supply as stable for the moment, while diesel and aviation-fuel prices remained high. ARA commercial inventories were below their five-year average and refineries were close to maximum capacity.

The reading

Fuel can remain available while margins suffer. Transport and industrial businesses need to separate usage, unit costs and their ability to pass increases to customers.

The next signal

The next industry meeting is scheduled for October 15, with an earlier meeting possible. Product inventories and diesel and jet-fuel prices remain key checks.
